The River North Design District (RNDD) held their annual River North Fall Gallery Walk on Friday, September 6th, 2019. Each participating showroom exhibited design vignettes from Chicago’s top designers which showcased living settings highlighting artwork created by some of the brightest stars in the art world today.
For the first time ever, RNDD gave out awards at the Fall Gallery Walk. Their host committee – comprised of local art enthusiasts and collectors – selected winners from the Gallery Walk for Best Vignette. We are excited to announce that Casa Spazio and Yamini Designs were awarded First Place for the best interior design vignette!
This year, Casa Spazio was honored to be paired with Yamini Hingorani of Yamini Designs and Hilton | Asmus Contemporary art gallery. Yamini created a hip and swanky interior design vignette in the front of our showroom inspired by David Gamble’ artwork and Julian Wasser’s photography both represented by Hilton | Asmus Contemporary.
We absolutely loved working with both Yamini and Arica Hilton of Hilton | Asmus. We look forward to working with them again soon!
The gray sofa is from Saba Italia’s Limes Collection and the green bench is from Saba Italia’s New York Suite Collection. Yamini found the perfect pop of color to compliment David Gamble’s prints with this pink ottoman from Saba Italia’s Geo collection. The modular designed bookcase system from Cattelan Italia best showcased Julian Wasser’s legendary photographs. And Julian Wasser’s 1963 photography of Andy Warhol, Dennis Hopper and Billy Al Bengston at the Pasadena Art Museum, found the perfect home in our showroom, hanging above the Kayak Sideboard from Cattelan Italia. The soft textured rug is from fellow RNDD Member, Oscar Isberian Rugs’ showroom.
We had over 200 people come through the showroom that evening to ‘wig out’ with us. Guests were invited to look for a young Jack Nicholson, Anjelica Huston, Dennis Hopper and Andy Warhol among the Wasser prints as they vibed with the sounds of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Then grab a dirty martini and a retro appetizer, sink into an Italian sofa and take in Gamble’s limited edition “Wig” series featuring Warhol’s own iconic silver-white hairpiece and glasses.
The highlight of the evening was when Julian Wasser himself came through our showroom to mingle with guests. It was an honor meeting such a legend.
Thank you to RNDD and the host committee for this recognition! The interior design vignettes will be on display throughout River North, Chicago until October 7th so if you weren’t able to make it to the event, come by our showroom between now and October 7th to check it out: 222 W. Hubbard.
