Flow, adapt, create, void, rearrange space, receive, and renew.
All words that perfectly describe the new Avant-Après Sofa and Sectional by Saba.
Designed by Sergio Bicego, this space-saving sectional sofa can do it all. It has a sleek and modern look with the benefit of being highly modular. The backrest and armrest system can easily be detached and repositioned, allowing multiple configurations for different spaces or occasions.
When it comes to city living, space is of the utmost importance. Every inch counts. The Avant-Après sectional actually gives you more flexibility when it comes to space than the traditional set-up of a sofa and two chairs. And it’s perfect for those who like to entertain, offering more seating options, and it’s big enough to use as a guest bed if you’re tight on space.
DESIGNER TIP: KEEPING ONE PART OF THE SECTIONAL BACKLESS, MAKES THE ENTIRE PIECE FEEL LIGHTER, AND GIVES THE SPACE MORE BREATHING ROOM.
Whether your home is big and open, or you have a space with an unusual shape, the Avant-Après has a configuration that can work for you. If you are currently renting and aren’t sure where your next move will take you and your seating requirements, the Avant-Après is a great solution. The sofa is lightweight and easy to move, and can be packed up and rearranged into a new configuration when you move on to your next home, making it the perfect sofa for renters. Or you can start with a smaller version of the sofa to save space, and add to it when you move into a bigger place.
Choose from upholstered in fabric or leather in a variety of colors – all fully removable covers. The base comes in painted metal with seating plane in plywood covered with velfodera. Back and armrest cushions’ panels are in plywood covered with velfodera. The seat cushions are available in a feather version or foam version. The Feather Version is padded with washed and sterilized goose down divided into sections clothed with 100% white cotton fabric and with variable-density polyurethane foam core. The Foam version is padded with variable-density polyurethane foam covered with fine velvet coupled with dacron. The back and roll cushions are padded with washed and sterilized goose down and 100% polyester fiber divided into sections. The armrest cushion is padded with washed and sterilized goose down divided into sections. The feet are metal with glazed nickel or grey painted finished.
The walnut side tables are available upon request and come in two different sizes. They can also double as an armrest, giving you yet even more flexibility when it comes to the configuration.

About Saba Italia:
Saba was established in 1988. Saba has worked ever since in the pursuit of relaxing design concepts. The concept, as well as the selection of materials, workmanship and manufacture, are all guided by the desire to experiment without overstepping into excess, supported by constant attention to quality and ergonomics. Saba believes that design products should not only be technically excellent, but also respond to real consumer needs, as well as offering aesthetics to stir the emotions.
About Sergio Bicego:
Born in 1953, Sergio Bicego left formal education and began, almost by chance, his experience in the field of the padded furniture. Fascinated by the world that surrounded him, he eagerly devoted himself to researching building forms and techniques which have borne fruit for the companies in which he worked. In 1991 he opened his studio as an independent designer and in 1993 he came across Saba Italia. New challenges and new incentives lead to the creation of the “nomad sofa”: Taos, Ananta, Limes, Nesting, Pixel. Creations that were born from reflection of new desires that encourage us to live in a less formal way, equipped with systems that enable change with simple gestures, by playing with shapes.
